Two ministers tour Kuakata by van, charmed by the 'Daughter of the Sea' and its sunset

Staff Reporter

The natural beauty of Kuakata, the 'Daughter of the Sea', and its horizon-wide sunset were enjoyed from a van by Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat and State Minister for Planning Junaid Abdur Rahim Saki, who rode along the beach to take in the sights. The unusual tour drew enthusiasm among tourists.

On Friday afternoon (October 23), they set off by van from Kuakata Zero Point towards the Lemburbon area. The golden afternoon light, the sea waves and the beautiful sunset on the horizon added extra attraction to the journey.

Alongside enjoying the beach's beauty, the minister and state minister, together with their travelling companions, also visited the tourism area's environment and its places of interest. Riding by van through the areas adjoining the beach, they experienced Kuakata's natural beauty up close.

Accompanying them on the tour were ABM Mosharraf Hossain, Member of Parliament for Patuakhali-4, and Sultana Jesmin Jui, Member of Parliament for a reserved women's seat.

Also among the travelling party were Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation Chairman Shamimuzzaman, Barishal Divisional Commissioner Khalil Ahmed and Patuakhali Deputy Commissioner Chowdhury Ashraful Karim.

In addition, there were District Council Administrator Snehasu Sarkar Kutti and Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry Secretary Dr. Nurunnahar Chowdhury NDC, along with other officials concerned. The tour was therefore also an opportunity to see the tourism area on the ground.

The tour took place on the occasion of the 'Kuakata Tourism Carnival-2026'. Organised by the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, the two-day carnival is being held in Kuakata on October 23 and 24.

For the carnival, a range of events has been arranged across the beach. Beach football, a kite festival, an art competition and cultural programmes have created extra attraction for tourists.

Another major aim of the event is the development of the country's tourism sector and making Kuakata more attractive to domestic and foreign tourists. The carnival has placed importance on those goals.

Kuakata is known as the 'Daughter of the Sea' for the opportunity to watch both sunrise and sunset from the same beach. The stretch from Zero Point to Lemburbon is part of that beauty, which the minister and state minister toured by van.

Those involved expect that events of this kind will further expand Kuakata's tourism potential. They believe the presence of ministers and an on-the-spot inspection will also play a role in bringing that potential to the fore.

At the same time, they hope the carnival will play a positive role in increasing tourist numbers, expanding local trade and business, and energising economic activity.

Attention will now be on the second day of the two-day carnival. The results of this effort to present Kuakata as a more attractive destination will be measured in the gathering of tourists it draws.
