A man has been arrested with several firearms after being found sitting in a stolen vehicle near the White House. The Department of Homeland Security says he had allegedly threatened to kill President Donald Trump.

The arrested man has been named as Ronny Guanipa-Chrinos, a Venezuelan national. According to a criminal complaint and the Department of Homeland Security, he was found sitting in a stolen vehicle near the White House complex.

According to the complaint affidavit filed in D.C. Superior Court, a Secret Service officer on patrol spotted the vehicle parked on Constitution Avenue, near the White House complex, shortly before midnight on Thursday.

The officer knocked on the window of the blue Ford F-150 and asked if he was OK and whether he had any weapons. According to the affidavit, Guanipa-Chrinos shook his head yes and made a finger gun gesture.

After getting out of the vehicle, he told investigators through Google Translate: 'I have the gun because they tried to kill me with it, and I had to take it away from them; it's in the brown bag.'

According to DHS, Guanipa-Chrinos told officers he 'heard voices in his head telling him to come to Washington, D.C. and kill President Trump'. The affidavit did not include those alleged remarks.

Investigators found a MAC-10 machine pistol, a Glock 43x pistol and an AR-15 rifle in the vehicle, according to the affidavit. There were also 'dozens of rounds of ammunition', DHS said.

The vehicle had been reported stolen, according to the affidavit.

Guanipa-Chrinos has been charged with unauthorised use of a vehicle, receiving stolen property, carrying a pistol without a licence, carrying a rifle without a licence and other firearms charges.

He made an initial appearance in D.C. Superior Court on Friday and remains held without bond, according to online court records.

Guanipa-Chrinos is undocumented and entered the U.S. through Texas in 2024, according to DHS.
