Manchester United Lose 3-0 at Home to Bournemouth and Go Eight League Matches Without a Win

Staff Reporter

Manchester United's misery shows no sign of ending. Michael Carrick's side lost 3-0 at home to Bournemouth, and the United coach could not avoid defeat even after leaving captain Bruno Fernandes on the bench. The run of failures has now created uncertainty over his future as well.

At Old Trafford on Sunday, United conceded twice in the first half. Ryan put Bournemouth ahead in the 38th minute, and five minutes later Marcus Tavernier doubled the lead. Evanilson's goal in the 71st minute confirmed a big win for the visitors.

Fernandes had criticised Carrick's tactics after the 4-1 Champions League defeat to Como in midweek. After that, the United coach did not include him in the starting eleven against Bournemouth, and the Portuguese midfielder had to sit on the bench for the entire match.

With this defeat, United are now winless in eight straight league matches. With 7 points from eight matches, the side has dropped to 16th in the table, just one place above the relegation zone.

After the match, Carrick also spoke of uncertainty over his own future. He told Sky Sports that the situation is difficult and there is no denying it, that he does not know what will happen next, and that he will keep giving his best for the club. He said he loves the job and feels the responsibility, and that now they have to wait.

Captain Harry Maguire also expressed dissatisfaction with the players' performance. In his words, this is a very big club, and every day you have to prove why you deserve to wear this shirt. At this moment, as players, they are not doing well enough, he said.
