Tiger Shroff car shooting probe widens: more Bollywood stars' homes were watched, security stepped up
New details keep emerging in the investigation into the shooting at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff's car. Indian media, citing police sources, now report that the accused had also kept watch around actor Ranbir Kapoor's home in Bandra.
On 18 October, gunfire was directed at Tiger Shroff's car in Mumbai's Juhu area. The actor was unharmed, but two people, including his driver, were injured, according to reports. Since then, investigators have been examining both the motive and the security of Bollywood stars.
Reports citing police sources claim that before the shooting, the accused had surveilled the area around Salman Khan's Bandra home, Galaxy Apartments. Seeing tight security there, they allegedly changed their plan.
The same sources claim the group then decided to target a star who moved around with comparatively lighter security, and that Tiger Shroff was chosen as an easier target on that basis. These details, however, come from investigation sources; no final conclusion on the motive or the plan has been announced.
The investigation has also found that while in Mumbai, the accused went to the residences of Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Ranveer Singh. Police are examining whether those stars were marked as specific targets, or whether the accused went there for another reason.
At the same time, it has been made clear that not every star whose home the accused visited or watched has been identified as a specific target of attack. The entire matter remains under investigation.
After the incident, security has been stepped up around the homes of Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and director Rohit Shetty, with increased police vigilance reported around all three residences.
Salman Khan already receives Y-plus category security. Beyond additional police watch outside his Bandra home, his security arrangements have been further strengthened. Police patrols have been increased around Aamir Khan's home, and extra police have been deployed near Rohit Shetty's Juhu residence.
One report said bulletproof glass was being installed at actor Akshay Kumar's home. There has been no official statement from those concerned on that point.
As the investigation progresses, eight people have been arrested in the case and two more detained. Investigators say their roles will be verified before the next legal steps are taken.
Investigators are examining who was involved in procuring and supplying the weapons and in planning the attack. A weapons-supply network and an alleged link with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang are also being probed. Three of the accused have been remanded in police custody until 31 October.
Altogether, the shooting at Tiger Shroff's car is no longer confined to a single attack investigation — it has raised a larger question about the safety of Bollywood's frontline stars. Investigators believe a clearer picture of the accused's real plan and targets will emerge once the probe is complete.
