Partly Cloudy Skies over Dhaka Today, Little Change in Temperature
The sky over the capital Dhaka and its surrounding areas may stay temporarily partly cloudy today, the Meteorological Department has said. However, the daytime temperature is unlikely to change significantly, according to the forecast.
The information was given in a forecast issued on Thursday (22 October) for the six hours from 7am. This short-term forecast applies mainly to the capital and its neighbouring areas.
According to the forecast, wind may blow from the north or north-west at 10 to 15 kilometres per hour during this period. The forecast did not mention any severe gusty conditions at that wind speed.
At 6am today, the temperature in Dhaka was recorded at 26.7 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the relative humidity in the air was 79 percent, indicating a comparatively high presence of water vapour in the early morning air.
The day's lowest temperature was recorded at 26.5 degrees Celsius. In other words, the gap between the early-morning minimum and the 6am temperature was very small.
Yesterday, Dhaka's highest temperature was recorded at 34.4 degrees Celsius. As the daytime temperature is expected to remain largely unchanged, similar warmth may be felt today as well.
Although partly cloudy skies have been forecast, this six-hour forecast did not mention rain. The weather is therefore more likely to remain mainly dry during the busy morning hours.
The Meteorological Department also said the sun will set in Dhaka at 5:27pm today. This shortening of the day is the usual picture for the latter part of autumn.
Tomorrow, Friday, sunrise in Dhaka will be at 5:59am, according to the forecast. The time may be useful for those who head out early in the morning.
All in all, the day for Dhaka residents may pass with a touch of cloud and temperatures that barely change. If the weather picture changes in the next forecast, the Meteorological Department will announce it.
