Low Over the Bay of Bengal, Another May Form on Friday; Weather Mainly Dry Nationwide
The weather is likely to remain mainly dry over most of the country today, though rain or thundershowers may occur at one or two places in the Chattogram division. Day and night temperatures are likely to stay nearly unchanged across the country, according to the Meteorological Department.
The information was given in the weather forecast issued for the 24 hours from 6pm on Wednesday (21 October).
The Met Department said a low-pressure area is located over the southwest Bay of Bengal off the Tamil Nadu coast. Its trough extends up to the north Bay of Bengal.
The forecast further said another low may form on 23 October over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjoining east-central Bay. It may also intensify, the department said.
Despite the low, the weather elsewhere in the country is most likely to remain mainly dry with temporarily partly cloudy skies today. There is no indication of heavy rainfall for now.
In the capital Dhaka, wind may blow from the north or northwest at 8 to 12 kilometres per hour.
The relative humidity in Dhaka was 52 percent at 6pm on Wednesday.
The sun will set in Dhaka at 5:27pm today and rise at 5:59am tomorrow.
Meanwhile, in the 24 hours from 6pm this Thursday, the weather across the country is also likely to remain mainly dry with temporarily partly cloudy skies, and day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged, the Met Department forecast.
If a new low forms over the sea, coastal weather could change depending on its track and strength. The department's next bulletins will need to be watched for that.
