Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2027 begins on 7 January, will run until 6 February

The curtain is set to rise on the 'Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2027' from 7 January. The formal schedule of the book fair has been confirmed through a press release signed by Bangla Academy Director General Mohammad Azam.

According to the release, the fair will begin on 7 January next year and will run until 6 February. It was informed that this timeframe has been determined on the basis of the unanimous opinion of publishers and concerned representatives.

With the aim of successfully organizing the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2027, a preparatory meeting was held on 13 October. Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury presided over that meeting.

Publisher representatives were present at the preparatory meeting. Adviser to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Dr Zahed Ur Rahman and Secretary Yasmin Begum took part in the meeting.

The release informed that after detailed discussion, this timeframe of the book fair has been finally determined on the basis of everyone's consensus. In other words, the dates were announced after agreement was reached on the schedule between the publisher representatives and the organizing side.

The book fair is one of the biggest annual events in the country's publishing world. Every year, preparations by publishers, writers and readers centring this fair begin long in advance, so knowing the dates early is important for their planning.

In this year's announcement, the fair's start and end dates have been clearly informed — from 7 January to 6 February. The schedule of this nearly month-long event will be directly useful in publishers' plans for book publication and stall preparation.

The cultural affairs minister's chairing of the preparatory meeting, the presence of the ministry's adviser and secretary and the participation of publisher representatives — all together, the announcement indicates that the event has entered the stage of formal preparation.

With the release published under the signature of the Bangla Academy director general, the schedule has now taken formal shape. As a result, all concerned parties will be able to arrange their next preparations keeping the same dates.

Now it is the turn to take forward the detailed preparations concerning the fair's organization in the next stage. Concerned people believe that, keeping the fair's opening day of 7 January in view, the preparations of publishers and organizers will gain further speed.
