Stephen Miller replaces Susie Wiles as White House chief of staff

US President Donald Trump has appointed his long-time aide Stephen Miller as the new White House chief of staff. The announcement was made on Friday. Miller replaces Susie Wiles in the post.
Trump said he brought Miller into the job to run things well. As chief of staff, Miller will now be in charge of running the day-to-day operations of the White House.
Stephen Miller is known as the architect of some of the Trump administration's toughest domestic policies. He has been instrumental in driving the administration's mass deportation programme.
Known for his hardline stance on immigration, Miller had been serving as an adviser to the president. In Friday's announcement, Trump introduced him as an immigration hardliner.
The promotion came after Republicans lost control of Congress in the midterm elections. The change at the top of the White House after the election result is being seen as part of a reshaping of the administration.
