Fire in Khagrachhari's Kolabagan Burns Nine Businesses, Losses Run Into Several Crore Taka

A fire in Kolabagan in Khagrachhari municipal area has burned down nine business establishments. The fire broke out around 3am on Thursday night.
Khagrachhari Fire Service station officer Mukul Kumar Nath confirmed the incident. He said firefighters had to work for nearly three hours to bring the blaze under control.
Witnesses said local residents, army personnel and police members also helped alongside the Fire Service in putting out the fire.
Mukul Kumar Nath said the fire spread quickly because the structures were made of wood and tin. A shortage of water also made it difficult to extinguish the flames.
He added that although the fire was eventually brought under control after prolonged efforts, by then nine business establishments, including timber shops and a furniture factory, along with an autorickshaw, had burned down.
The initial estimate puts the damage at several crore taka.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
