Md Ahsan Habib Appointed Full Chairman of the National Board of Revenue, Gazette Notification Issued

Md Ahsan Habib has been appointed Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and full Secretary of the Internal Resources Division. A gazette notification on the appointment was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday (26 October).

Ahsan Habib had previously been serving in the same two posts as acting secretary and acting chairman. He has now received the appointment on a full-term basis.

The notification, issued by order of the President from the Higher Appointment-1 branch of the Ministry of Public Administration, was signed by the ministry's Deputy Secretary Jeti Pru. It says acting Secretary of the Internal Resources Division and acting NBR Chairman Md Ahsan Habib has been appointed on deputation, under the President's 10 percent quota, as Secretary of the Internal Resources Division and Chairman of the National Board of Revenue.

The notification also says he will return to his own cadre before retirement. The order, issued in the public interest, takes effect immediately, it added.

Ahsan Habib is an officer of the tax cadre of the 15th BCS batch. He stood first in the tax cadre of that batch and joined government service on 15 November 1995.

In his long career he has served in important posts including Tax Zones 1, 2, 3, 7, 8 and 15 in Dhaka, Tax Zone Khulna, Tax Zone Rangpur, Tax Appeal Zone Khulna, Tax Appeal Zone Rajshahi and the Central Tax Survey Zone.

He has also served as Director General and Additional Director General of the Central Intelligence Cell (CIC) and the Directorate of Tax Inspection, with experience of running tax administration and management efficiently.
