Two College Friends Return Tk 80,000 Found on Road to Its Owner After Loudspeaker Search in Sakhipur

Two friends, Abu Rahat and Abu Sohan, have returned Tk 80,000 found on a road in Sakhipur, Tangail, to its real owner. Local people are praising the honesty and humanity of the two college students.

Rahat and Sohan are residents of Mahanandapur village in Sakhipur upazila. Both are college students and close friends.

On Saturday afternoon (24 October), on their way to visit the Polashtoli area of the upazila, they saw the money lying on the Boro Chowra–Kalihati road. They stopped when they saw so much cash lying on the road.

Instead of keeping the money, the two friends took the initiative to find its real owner. An announcement was made over the loudspeaker of a local mosque to search for the owner.

Meanwhile, the owner, Azizul, was distraught after losing the money. He works as an SR (sales representative) at a private organisation.

After losing the money, Azizul himself began searching with loudspeaker announcements in different areas of Kalihati and Sakhipur upazilas. The two searches eventually met.

On the basis of proper proof, Azizul was identified as the real owner of the money. His home is in Sarisha-Ata village of Kalihati upazila.

On Sunday afternoon (25 October), in the presence of the president and general secretary of the Mahanandapur Bazar Traders' Association and other local dignitaries, Rahat and Sohan handed the Tk 80,000 to Azizul.

Azizul expressed relief at getting his lost money back. For a salaried man like him, Tk 80,000 is a large sum, so recovering it was a great relief.

Local people are praising the two friends for resisting temptation, finding the real owner and returning the money. They say such an example of honesty and humanity will inspire others too.
