Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu's condition improves as anaemia clears
The physical condition of Land Minister Md Mizanur Rahman Minu, one of the advisers to the BNP chairperson, has improved compared with before. His office says he is now feeling somewhat better.
The minister's APS, Nazmul Haque, said Minu is feeling a little healthier than before and that his anaemia problem has been resolved. He is now physically well and is talking.
The APS added that the anaemia had appeared as a side effect of medication and that the problem has now passed. Some further tests remain, however, and those will be carried out today.
'We hope he will recover quickly,' Nazmul Haque said. Decisions on further treatment and discharge are expected to depend on the results of those tests.
Meanwhile, Mirza Abbas Uddin Ahmed, a member of the BNP's national standing committee and political adviser to the prime minister, went to the hospital to enquire after the ailing land minister and wished him a speedy recovery.
Also among those who visited the hospital were National Parliament Whip Advocate Ruhul Quddus Talukdar Dulu and State Minister for Social Welfare Barrister Farzana Sharmin Putul.
The prime minister's research officer Md Abdus Sattar Patwari and the prime minister's personal physician Dr A N M Monowarul Kadir Bitu also went to the hospital to check on the land minister's condition.
Aman Ullah Aman, organising secretary of the central committee of the Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal, along with leaders and distinguished figures from various professions, also visited him in hospital.
Leaders of various political, social and professional organisations likewise called at the hospital, enquired after the sick minister and prayed for his quick recovery.
News of the improvement has brought relief among his colleagues and party leaders and activists. His being able to talk again, and the clearing of the anaemia, are being seen as positive signs in his treatment.
Attention now turns to the results of today's remaining tests. If they are satisfactory, those concerned hope the land minister will soon be able to return to his normal duties.
