Zahir Uddin (Babar), FAVP and branch head of Islami Bank’s Jagannathpur branch.
The programme began with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Mohammad Musa Husain, manager of Bangladesh Krishi Bank’s Jagannathpur branch. Nabarupa Dhar Chowdhury, SAVP and branch manager of City Bank’s Jagannathpur branch, hosted the event.
Overall management of the programme was handled by Mohammad Fitratus Sayem Chowdhury, branch manager of MTB’s Syedpur SME/Agriculture branch, and Sujit Kumar Dey, in-charge of MTB’s Sunamganj sub-branch.
Speakers at the workshop stressed the need to build the business skills of women entrepreneurs, saying the banking sector’s role in the sustainable development of the CMSME sector is immense.
In haor-dominated areas of Sylhet Division, including Jagannathpur, bringing women into income-generating work carries real significance for the local economy. Speakers hoped banking services and training would help women entrepreneurs set up and expand their businesses.
The training programme concluded successfully with the spontaneous participation of local women entrepreneurs.
