Housewife Sumi Jahan's body recovered in Barlekha, police investigating to find cause of death

Police have recovered the body of a housewife named Sumi Jahan (38) in Barlekha upazila of Moulvibazar. On Monday afternoon (19 October), her body was recovered from a house in Chandinagar village, in Ward No. 4 of the No. 5 Dakshin Shahbazpur Union of the upazila.

The incident took place in the Dakshin Shahbazpur Union area of Barlekha upazila. Police recovered the body from that house in Chandinagar village. As the news spread in the area, questions arose surrounding the housewife's death.

Police and local sources said Sumi Jahan was the first wife of Dubai expatriate Ahaduzzaman (40). News of her death came while her husband was living abroad.

At around 3pm on Monday, family members went looking for Sumi Jahan. While searching, they found her hanging inside the room.

After the family members found her hanging, the matter was reported to Barlekha Thana police. On receiving the information from the family, police set out for the scene.

On receiving the news, Barlekha Thana police went to the scene. Police recovered Sumi Jahan's body there and took it to the police station.

The late Sumi Jahan is survived by two children. She has a 17-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son.

Barlekha Thana police said the body is scheduled to be sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital on Tuesday morning (20 October) for an autopsy. Until the autopsy process is complete, nothing final can be said about the cause of death.

Police say the real cause of Sumi Jahan's death can only be confirmed after the autopsy report is received. No conclusion can be reached before that report is in hand.

Meanwhile, police are investigating to uncover the real cause of the housewife's death. Barlekha Thana police are continuing their investigation to find the reason behind the incident.
