Mostly dry weather across the country today, temperatures may dip slightly
The weather across the country is likely to remain mainly dry today, according to the Meteorological Department. Although the sky may be temporarily partly cloudy, the chance of rainfall is low. Day and night temperatures may also fall slightly across the country, the forecast said.
The information was given in the forecast for Dhaka and its neighbouring areas issued on Monday (19 October) for the six hours from 7am. Most parts of the country, including the capital, are expected to see a similar weather pattern today.
The forecast said the weather may remain mainly dry with a temporarily partly cloudy sky across the country. In other words, although clouds may appear in the sky from time to time, they are unlikely to bring rain.
The department also gave details of wind movement over Dhaka and nearby areas. According to the forecast, wind may blow from the northwest or north at a speed of 6 to 12 kilometres per hour over these areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature in Dhaka at 6am on Monday was 26.2 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the relative humidity in the capital stood at 74 percent.
The department also presented the previous day's picture. On Sunday (18 October), the highest temperature recorded in Dhaka was 33.6 degrees Celsius. Today's lowest temperature has been recorded at 26.2 degrees Celsius.
Although the chance of rain is low in most parts of the country including Dhaka, temporary cloud presence may remain in the sky, the forecast mentioned. As a result, city dwellers may feel the sun's intensity ease at times during the day.
Day and night temperatures are forecast to fall slightly. Coming at the end of October, this slow decline in temperature matches the natural course of the changing season. However, the feeling of heat during the day is not disappearing completely just yet.
While this spell of dry weather is comfortable for farm work and daily movement, farmers have to keep an eye on soil moisture for crops standing in the fields. The forecast, however, holds out no hope of rain for today.
All in all, the day is likely to pass without rain across the country. Any change in the situation will be known from the Meteorological Department's next forecast; for now, all the information points to a partly cloudy sky and mainly dry weather.
